Ornate letter A

s an alternative to the relatively simple or repetitive lyrics of songs, poetry can explore the beauty, depth and intricacy of language. Poetry, read in various voices, accents, intonations, and with some drama, can really come alive! Talented readers perform poetry in public, but this can be daunting for some!

I am building a collection here of some of the best classic and modern poetry which I come across online.

I have my own personal tastes and I’m in no rush to cram mediocre poetry in here, so this is just going to build up by 2 – 3 more poems per month usually.

I’m open to some suggestions to include any further poetry from published poets, which is already online and can be linked to.

Or you could always try recording a famous poem (not by unpublished authors) and sending the link. Just submit a Soundcloud or YouTube poem link, using the form below. If I think it’s a good reading, I will do the rest.

Notes:

1. Please record any famous poem by a published author.
2. Send form with: POET’S SURNAME/NAME; POEM TITLE; READER NAME (or Anon) and unedited POEM TEXT.
3. Only publicly shared Soundcloud.com links or YouTube links with clear audio on the poem can be accepted.
4. All those submitted on the form below will be considered.
